workshops
A metal workshop can come with a wide variety of shapes and sizes to suit the needs of any craftsman, DIYer, or mechanic…whether hobbyist or professional. They can be designed with one single large space, or with a center section and lean-to sides to separate the workspaces as needed.
With numerous sizes, roof styles, color options, window and door options, insulation and condensation barriers, our customization options will allow you to design the exact metal workshop building to suit your needs.
Barns
Metal barns are a flexible, rugged and durable solution for farming and agricultural equipment or for use as horse barns. These steel structures take away the headaches of maintaining conventional wood based structures such as pole barns.
Our Metal barns can be designed in a variety of ways that allow for fully open air spaces, separation of the inside area, and the addition of open, partially open or fully enclosed lean to structures on the sides. Add windows and your choice of garage door sizes, and choose from multiple roof types, designs and color options to match other buildings on your property.
Commercial
MaxSteel commercial metal buildings and structures are constructed with heavy-duty metal panels and framing and include engineered trusses able to carry a heavier snow load and span greater distances. To ensure proper roof drainage, commercial metal buildings and structures are only available with the vertical roof style.
Choose from our large variety of metal building customization options to create an indoor sports area, hold your business’ inventory, protect heavy equipment from harsh weather, or create the ultimate workshop.

Roof Types
Choosing the right roof style is the starting point for designing your carport, garage or other style of metal building. It’s important to consider the specific area you plan to locate your structure and whether you can expect some snow load or harsh weather, or even the types of trees nearby and the debris they may drop. A vertical roof style which promotes easier drainage might be best if any of those conditions exist. All our buildings include FREE delivery and assembly by one our professional installation teams as long as the job site complies with requirements (see your local dealer for details).
Regular
Good
A Regular roof style on your carport or metal building can provide the protection you need for your vehicles or equipment at an affordable price and in a variety of sizes. Rather than the roof extending out to form an eave on the sides, the ends of each truss are curved downward, which provides additional height without the cost of purchasing taller posts. Because the metal roof panels run gable-to-gable (end to end) , they are curved around the frame at the corners which provides additional coverage and protection from the weather.
Boxed Eave
Better
Boxed-eave (or “A-frame”) roof styles create a more traditional and attractive roof line for your carport or metal structure with only a modest increase in price. Like the Regular style, the roof panels run perpendicular to the roof slope, so they’re better for warmer and drier climates that don’t require maximum drainage due to harsh weather. Metal Buildings with a Boxed Eave roof also provide 4-6″ of overhang on the sides that are finished with boxed trim.
Vertical
Best
A Vertical roof-style has the BEST long-term value and is ideal for protecting vehicles and equipment from weather elements. Along with having an attractive and traditional roof line with an eave, the roof panels and ribs run parallel to the slope, creating more efficient drainage and preventing snow load or debris build-up. Steel hat channel is utilized under the roof panels and adds strength to the structure. Vertical style roofs have 4-6″ of overhang and are finished with boxed trim on all sides. Vertical Roof Option is the investment that will extend the life of the roof of the carport.

advantages of metal buildings
When looking at cost per square foot, a steel building or steel carport will be comparable to wood or other conventional building materials. Even if you find that your steel building is a larger initial investment, it will be significantly less expensive to maintain and will hold its value over the long run.
Low Maintenance
A steel building or carport is easier to maintain and clean than structures made of wood or brick. The color applied to our metal roof panels and metal siding is a specially formulated and hardened coating that is warrantied against peeling, fading, chalking or cracking. There is no need to paint every few years as there is with a wood exterior. Steel structures require less material to ensure structural stability, so therefore weigh less than traditional structures, even wood. Less weight means less settling and therefore less chance of costly foundation problems.
Durable
A steel building or steel carport does not rot like wood and can stand up to constant use and strong weather conditions, including wind, rain, snow load, and seismic events. Steel framing does not rot, warp, split, twist, or creep like wood framing does over the years. In a wood-framed structure, nails back out and the structure becomes loose over time. Sheetrock cracks. Roof ridges and overhead door openings sag. Windows and doors refuse to close properly. A pre-engineered steel building goes up straight and plumb— and it stays that way for decades of trouble-free service.
Pest & Mold Resistant
Metal buildings, metal garages and metal carports are not susceptible to termites and other destructive pests. Americans spend $5 billion annually for termite control and the repairs for termite damage. Steel is pest resistant, so there is no need to treat a metal building or carport with harsh chemicals on a regular basis. Additionally, as an inorganic material, steel does not support mold, mildew or other fungi growth.
Energy Efficient
Proper insulation of your metal building or metal carport can save money on heating and cooling costs. With the right insulation, animals or livestock can be housed in a steel building. Steel buildings allow for much better insulation compared to traditional wood buildings due to the reflective nature of the metal panels. This enhanced energy efficiency can significantly reduce heating and cooling bills if you’re planning to insulate your metal building.
Lower Insurance Cost
Because of the superior strength and durability of steel structures, as well as their resistance to fire and other natural disasters, metal buildings, metal garages and metal carports may have lower insurance premiums compared to traditional structures. Contact your insurance carrier to learn if you’ll benefit from these savings.
Lower Remodeling Cost
If expansion is required later, prefabricated metal buildings and metal carports make remodeling easy and quick. Enlarging a Vertical Roof metal building at either end is simply a matter of adding additional framing and metal panels to match the original structure. Adding additional space on the sidewalls is just a matter of adding a lean-to adjoining the original building…such as a lean-to as long as your existing structure has sufficient height. Delivery and installation costs may be covered when the add-on order value exceeds a minimum price. Consult your local dealer for details.
